ABOUT THE BLOG

Welcome to the Bible in a Year blog. The purpose of this blog is to provide a gathering place for those who want to study the Bible but need a little encouragement along the way. There are a few points I would like to make about this blog:

1. Though the structure of the reading plan is pretty rigid (daily readings, every day, 7 days a week), don’t feel discouraged if you get behind. Either read a little extra each day to catch up or just skip up to where we are. You’re better off to read through 50% of the Bible this year than to stop reading after a few days or weeks.

2. This is not meant to be a thorough study of the Bible. Every day, there will be way more material than can be adequately covered in a blog post. Instead, I will try to focus on one or two items, verses, stories or ideas that jump out to me as I read. Different things may stand out for you and that’s OK! Feel free to leave your reflections and revelations in the comments section for that day. Or, if you feel so inclined, start a “Bible in a Year” blog of your own and send me a link!

3. The thoughts and opinions expressed here are “wet cement.” My intention for this blog is to capture my (and your) initial reaction to the reading. In order to maintain integrity in this practice, I have purposefully avoided in-depth research on the day’s passage prior to writing my blog post. As such, I may ask questions to which I don’t know the answer (even if the answer is well-documented) and I may even, over the course of 365 days, make contradictory statements. Bottom line: don’t hold my feet to the fire! This is as much a journey for me as it is for you. Relax and enjoy the ride.

With all of that said, please join me on this journey!
